I’m just going to be honest. I’m very tired. I didn’t have the energy to create a new cartoon this week. You see, I’m a night owl. No matter how hard I try, my brain really loves to be awake between the hours of midnight and 3am.
Early bedtimes are a tragedy waiting to be written.
My brain gleefully falls asleep within two minutes of my head hitting the pillow, knowing it will be ready to wake me as soon as the clock strikes midnight. Sometimes I get lucky and my brain lets me sleep until 1am. To avoid this horror, I have given in and allow my brain to run amuck during the hours which feel most natural to it. Until this week.
This week was mayhem.
I decided to attempt, for at least the 100th time in my 39 years on this Earth, to go to bed at human time, as Hubster likes to call it. There I was, lying in bed at 10pm, knowing I was signing my own death warrant. To retaliate for powering down the mighty machine while random thoughts were in progress, my brain decided to wake me in the middle of the night. And then again at 5am. And again at 7am. For two days in a row.
Nothing good can come from continuing this experiment.
Needless to say, while my eyes may actually be open, I am definitely not awake. So enjoy one of my favorite cartoons, inspired by a Seinfeld skit that makes me chuckle every time I see it. I’m going to go take a series of naps to restore balance to my universe and I’ll see you all once I can remember my name.
