A small dish, two bowls,
porcelain placed in neat rows.
Oh bother! The cups.

Shift the bowls aside –
with soft clinks, the cups mingle.
The dishwasher’s full.

What is that I spy?
A platter left, forgotten.
The game is afoot.

About Adulthood in Disguise

  1. Dear Heather,
I love the poem. So topical, it’s sooooo annoying when that happens!
John has been doing a LOT of chores these last 5 weeks, since I am not supposed to stand or walk too much. While I am grateful of course, it’s been shocking how he loads the dishwasher!
    Thanks for the chuckle,
    Love y’all!
