Every so often I meet new people who have a wild first name. I have to ask them to repeat it more than once – sometimes they are complex enough to requiring spelling in order for my brain to put it together. I’ve always wondered whether these people would change their name if they could. Think about the people with ‘traditional’ sounding names but a non-traditional spelling – would they rather make a change? Imagine how often Karyn or Jakob have to correct people.
