I bet you’re impressed by the fancy title on this recipe – I know I am! Agua fresca… it sounds so much more sophisticated than water cooler. I know, I just burst your fancy bubble, but this recipe is super simple and tastes delicious on a hot day. Even better is the fact that hibiscus has become so popular and is available in virtually every grocery store!

Hibiscus Agua Fresca

INGREDIENTS
2 ounces hibiscus flowers (dried)
3/4 cup sugar
water

UTENSILS NEEDED
Pot
Large drink pitcher

Bring 3 cups of water to boil, remove from heat. Add hibiscus flowers and steep for 30 minutes.
Pour liquid into pitcher, use a strainer to catch the petals. Discard flowers.
Add sugar to pitcher and stir until dissolved.
Pour 6 cups of cold water to pitcher and mix well.
Chill in refrigerator or serve immediately over ice.

Superhero Tip: Dried hibiscus flowers can usually be found with the tea bags in your local grocery store. Starbucks also has a hibiscus tea bag that you can steep in place of the dried flowers (if you like the taste of tea, that is).

Second Superhero Tip: For a really hot day, blend the finished pitcher of juice with ice and serve it slushy style!
