I think it goes without saying that today’s recipe is alcoholic so please don’t serve it to anyone under the legal drinking age. Now that I’ve cleared up that potential lawsuit, let’s talk spritzer. This is a very fancy word for fizzy drink. Serve it at a classy luncheon on a hot day, or just drink it in your pajamas while you watch the latest Netflix series – I won’t judge you.
1/3 cup white sugar
1/3 cup plain water
750 ml Sauvignon Blanc
1 cup grapefruit juice
1/4 cup Campari
3 cups carbonated water
Grapefruit to garnish
Simmer sugar and plain water in saucepan on medium-low heat, stirring constantly. Once sugar is dissolved, remove and let cool completely.
Combine Sauvignon Blanc, grapefruit juice, Campari, and sugar syrup.
When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice.
Fill each glass halfway with the wine mixture.
Fill the remaining half of the glass with carbonated water.
Garnish and serve.
Superhero Tip: Use any citric juice to make this drink to your own tastes. You can also use more or less carbonated water in each glass to suit your preference.
Second Superhero Tip: You can substitute use any dry white wine in the place of Sauvignon Blanc – Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio are delicious.
