The weather is changing and that means the produce is too. For those of us who love a chilled drink, nothing is quite as tasty as a strawberry lime combination. This recipe is also perfect for using up any fruit that is at the end of its life – no one will ever know the strawberries were mushy once they’ve been through the blender!

Strawberry Lime Soda

1 lb strawberries, washed & trimmed
2 large limes, juiced
1 cup granulated white sugar
36 oz seltzer
(club soda and sparkling water can be used if that’s your preference)

Juicer (optional)
Large drink pitcher
Wire mesh sieve

Puree strawberries in blender until smooth.
Add in lime juice and sugar, blending again until fully mixed.
Using a wire mesh sieve, strain the strawberry mixture into the pitcher, taking care to not let solids pass through.
Add seltzer to pitcher and stir gently, so as not to lose the carbonation.
Serve over ice.

Superhero Tip: Garnish your drinks in style – rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glassware and dip into sugar. Pour in soda and then top with a strawberry or lime wedge and serve to guests.

Second Superhero Tip: You can easily substitute or incorporate other fruits using this recipe. Test out the combinations and make notes of your favorites. You can also use more or less seltzer to significantly alter the taste of the drink.
