This recipe is using a bit of a cheat in the form of refrigerated biscuit dough. I know, and you thought I was the best cook you had ever met…
I’ll take a moment while you finish laughing.
Honestly, making biscuit dough is not going to happen when I can easily buy it in a can in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. This recipe has enough to do without adding biscuit making to the list.
For my readers outside of the US – this dough may be a bit of a challenge for you to find but I’ve been told it is available near pastry items in the refrigerator section of large grocery stores. If you need to buy it in a packet and make the mix, please be aware that the dough you want is similar to a scone or dumpling dough. It should not be flavored.
Glazed Cinnamon Bubble Bread
1 can of refrigerated biscuit dough
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 cup powdered sugar
4 tsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
9 x 5 loaf pan
Preheat oven to 325 degree. Spray loaf pan and set aside.
Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in bowl.
Cute each raw biscuit into 4 pieces. Dip each piece in butter, then in sugar and cinnamon mixture, and place in loaf pan. Create even layers without crushing dough. Pour remaining butter on top of loaf.
Sprinkle remaining brown sugar and cinnamon over top of loaf.
Bake for 45 minutes, biscuits should spring back up when pushed down.
After cooling for 10 minutes, remove loaf from pan.
Whisk milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla – add more milk until glaze is smooth and able to pour.
Pour glaze over top of loaf and serve while warm.
Superhero Tip: You can reheat this bread in the microwave for a few seconds if you have any leftovers.
Second Superhero Tip: Sprinkle walnuts throughout the loaf as you layer the biscuits pieces.
