Can you feel that? A slight chill in the air. Can you smell that? Pumpkin. Blech. Can you taste that? Candy corn, chock full of sugar and food coloring. That’s right, it’s finally here!
October has arrived – please roll out the red carpet.
Some would say to roll out the orange carpet, but that color is an assault on the eyes and I refuse to contribute to it – while secretly acknowledging the holiday treats do taste better when tinted orange.
Every candy wrapper from here to Mars is now black and orange, transforming the grocery stores into a paradise for those who love this morbid holiday. Fake blood is being sold by the gallon, perfect for setting the scene of death and mayhem on your front porch.
This is the perfect time to commit a murder and get away with it.*
There is also something truly special about the month of October. A little movie you should all know by now. In fact, you should have the lines memorized because it’s been 25 years since the theatrical release. Featuring an amazing cast of heavy Hollywood hitters – this Disney classic reminds me of the time before Disney decided cheesy puff comedy was the only way to handle the terrifying topic of Halloween.
Hocus Pocus, the only Halloween movie you ever need to care about.
Today begins day one of my countdown. I will watch Hocus Pocus a minimum of 31 times this month. I say minimum because last year I watched it more than once each day.
*Please don’t commit murder, it’s not very nice.

Good call, Heather. Hugely imaginative and entertaining movie

It makes me sad that the three actresses wanted to come back for a sequel but Disney deemed the movie not profitable enough. I do understand that companies need to make a profit, but I wish that they would be content with making $1 million instead of having to make five.

Red relaxer Cat’s manager cut himself badly once carving a pumpkin. He managed to wipe the blood off the ceiling, he told me, before i got home and found him clutching his thumb.
Thanks for linking to continental drift

We don’t get any trick-or-treaters on our street, it’s usually so cold and wet that people go to local malls.

Not a fan of October, it’s so bleak and the start of the countdown to panic but maybe this Hocus Pocus you speak of will help change my mood

I have never seen Hocus Pocus. I do love taking my grandkids trick or treating. In Steamboat Springs, they have a cool tradition – instead of going around to houses, kids go downtown and merchants provide each child a little treat.

That’s what our area does, I have not seen trick-or-treaters in years. It’s always cold and rainy and it is dark here by 4 PM so it’s best for kids to be at the malls for safety.

There is something so magical about October. I love Halloween. This year we’re going to be in the Dominican Republic on holiday and even though we can’t wait, I will miss decorating my house, carving a pumpkin and doing trick or treat! #Dreamteam

I LOVE that movie!! Isn’t there a 2nd one coming? I think watching it once a day in October is fair play… you’re making up for all the other days of the year right? 😉 Thanks for being a brilliant #DreamTeam host xx

The actresses have all said they would like to come back, but Disney has shown no inclination of doing a second movie. Which is really sad, people have been begging for it!

As we are in Spring here in South African – we don’t celebrate Halloween but there are a few people who follow the Northern Hemisphere custom and celebrate . I love all the pics of pumpkins and decorations currently on Instagram and it looks like so much fun #dreamteam
