Candied nuts are no longer just a treat for after dinner. As a midday snack, they pack a punch of protein and also fill that mid-afternoon sugar craving that sneaks up every day without fail. These nuts are also a fantastic topping to add to your salads, prepare to be delighted! Oh, they are also delicious for dessert so you’d better make a double batch of them.

Candied Nuts

INGREDIENTS
1 lb. nuts (your choice!)
1 TBSP water
1 egg white

Medium Bowl:
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon

UTENSILS NEEDED
Baking sheet
Parchment paper

Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
Mix together ingredients of medium bowl and set aside.
Chop the nuts into bite sized pieces.
Whisk together egg whites and water in bowl.
Add nuts to egg mixture, stirring to coat them well.
Remove nuts from eggs and toss them in the sugar mixture until coated.
Spread nuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.

Superhero Tip: My favorite nuts are walnuts, pecans, and almonds. Other great options are cashews and macadamia nuts.

Second Superhero Tip: These make a fantastic addition to your salads and pair extremely well with fruit vinaigrette dressings and blue cheese crumbles.
