Dear Lola,

I have a very important question relating to cheese and I hear you are a bit of an expert in that food group. I recently bought two triangles of Brie. Each one was made by a different company. Each one had more than a month before they hit their expiration date. Both of them went bad within one day of being in the refrigerator. I didn’t even get a chance to open them!

What am I doing wrong?!

Sincerely,
Breaking Brie

Dear Lola

Dear Breaking Brie,

Ah, the tasty treat that is brie cheese. Soft and delicious, this treat could only be produced with the finest cow’s milk. My Mommybeast enjoys a warmed brie with walnuts or pecans on top. I’ve also been known to enjoy a bit of a nibble now and then, though my rear end will usually complain about it later.

We persevere for the things we love.

I do have a solution that will solve all of your problems. I think you will find it well thought out and elegant in its simplicity. Surely you would have thought of this on your own if you weren’t so bereft over the loss of not one, but two precious wheels of brie.

Brie should never make it to the refrigerator.

You purchase it and bring it home, the oven gets popped on and in your brie goes. Within a few short minutes, you’ll be happily eating a creamy treat. Obviously, if anyone sees you eating an entire wheel of brie alone, in the middle of the day, they may question you. They may even raise their eyebrows at you because you are binge watching Netflix at the same time.

Those people are not your friends.

Real friends will come round with crackers and help you with your snack. They’ll even recommend a new show to watch when your current obsession has passed. The very best friend will bring champagne, even if it’s ‘too early in the day’ by societal standards.

  1. I’m not a big cheese fan but my sister is – and yes, straight into the oven it goes for and warm and creamy slathering all over crackers or breab x #GlobalBlogging
