There is nothing more fun than cutting into a cake and finding colorful sprinkles inside of it. It’s even better if those sprinkles are multicolored. The best part is that it covers up any imperfect frosting skills or slips of the spreading knife while you drool over your creation.

Yellow Sprinkle Cake and Frosting

3/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 TBSP vanilla extract
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup sour cream
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup sprinkles of choice
1/3 cup butter, softened
3 cups powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 to 2 TBSP milk

Mixing bowl and paddle attachment
Large bowl
Two 8 inch cake pans
Medium bowl (frosting)
Hand mixer (frosting)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cake pans, set aside.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt in large bowl, set aside.
Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Lower mixer speed to low.
Add eggs to bowl one at a time. Stir in vanilla.
Add flour mix and milk to mixer, alternating between the two.
Remove from mixer. Add sour cream and fold in by hand. Fold in sprinkles.
Pour into both cake rounds and bake about 30 minutes. Cool then frost.
FROSTING: Mix sugar and butter on low-speed. Stir in vanilla. Add 1 TBSP milk. Add more milk until spreadable.

Superhero Tip: Top cake with additional sprinkles. Sprinkles are life.

Second Superhero Tip: Place alphabet cookie cutters on frosted cake gently. Add sprinkles inside the cookie cutters, and then remove cutters.
