It’s chili time! One of my favorite go to meals, this is an easy recipe that sits in your crock pot so everyone can serve themselves as they get hungry. The best thing about this chili is that I can skip cooking dinner for three additional nights – that’s always a bonus! There are many ways you can tweak this recipe to suit your own tastes so be sure to read the tips below the recipe for ideas.

Classic Chili with Beans
INGREDIENTS
1 lb. ground beef
15 ounce can of tomato sauce
15 ounce can of red kidney beans, undrained
1 white onion
1 TBSP chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
UTENSILS NEEDED
Crock pot or soup pot
Frying pan
Colander
Cutting board and knife
Brown ground beef in frying pan, then drain grease.
Move drained ground beef to crock pot.
Dice onion into very small pieces and place in crock pot.
Add tomato sauce and red kidney beans.
Add all seasonings to crock pot and stir well.
Set crock pot on high for about 2 hours or low for 4-5 hours. This will depend on the crock pot you have.
Superhero Tip: If you’re trying to be health conscious, switch the ground beef for ground turkey and add a cup of diced carrots.
Second Superhero Tip: Serve over rice with shredded cheese on top for a complete meal!

We love chilli beef, it’s my husband favourite dish to make and very easy to prepare to!

So easy! It’s ridiculous how much the Hubster will fawn over this easy meal.

I love love love chilli. Then I fell pregnant and had a baby and something happened in my body. I look at chilli and my mouth already starts burning. I can’t even look at pepper. It is really annoying, but there is nothing I can do about it. Much to my husbands horror… 😦 #globalblogging

I make the veggie version of chilli for myself – but this is great for hubby when he feels like he’s got an urge to cook something “manly”. 😊 #globalblogging

Hubster has never cooked his own chili – but he sure has a lot of opinions on how it should be done!

I give a thumbs up to your superhero tip to use turkey instead of beef. I usually can’t tell the difference!

I can if it’s a light sauce in the dish. But any red sauce will make that turkey blend in nicely!

LOVE chili. Something about it warms the heart + soul. Paired with a homemade bun it’s to-die-for

Adding the bun sounds suspiciously close to becoming a sloppy joe! Do you have Sloppy Joe’s where you live?

Mmmmmmmmm chilli. That’s the one thing I hate about having kids, you can’t make ‘dad strength’ spicy food anymore ☹️

You can, but you better have a lot of diapers on hand. 🤣

Love chilli! Will have to give it ago with the cayenne pepper but maybe without the kids 🙂 #globalblogging

In the quantities i listed it’s not actually all that spicy. I served this to my daycare kids who were under the age of two. They had no problems eating it.

I’ve been looking for a basic chili recipe. This just might be it! My kids are on the fence about trying it, but cooking it in the slow cooker might win them over!

I LOVE chili! I love to cook it in my crock pot on rainy days! That’s the best! But I just learned recently from my teenager, who I’ve loved sharing my chili with, that he doesn’t actually like chili but never said anything because he didn’t want to hurt my feelings lol. Sweet boy but now I have no one to eat chili with:( I will check out your recipe! Thanks for hosting #globalblogging
