It’s chili time! One of my favorite go to meals, this is an easy recipe that sits in your crock pot so everyone can serve themselves as they get hungry. The best thing about this chili is that I can skip cooking dinner for three additional nights – that’s always a bonus! There are many ways you can tweak this recipe to suit your own tastes so be sure to read the tips below the recipe for ideas.

Classic Chili with Beans

INGREDIENTS
1 lb. ground beef
15 ounce can of tomato sauce
15 ounce can of red kidney beans, undrained
1 white onion
1 TBSP chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

UTENSILS NEEDED
Crock pot or soup pot
Frying pan
Colander
Cutting board and knife

Brown ground beef in frying pan, then drain grease.
Move drained ground beef to crock pot.
Dice onion into very small pieces and place in crock pot.
Add tomato sauce and red kidney beans.
Add all seasonings to crock pot and stir well.
Set crock pot on high for about 2 hours or low for 4-5 hours. This will depend on the crock pot you have.

Superhero TipIf you’re trying to be health conscious, switch the ground beef for ground turkey and add a cup of diced carrots.

Second Superhero Tip: Serve over rice with shredded cheese on top for a complete meal!
