GOOD MORNING!
Sorry, I felt compelled to yell that at you because it’s just about 5am as I write and I haven’t been to bed yet – I’m getting a bit punchy. It’s my big blog link up night so I usually only catch a cat nap from 6am – 11am. I basically party with the Brits all night and call it work. Lola loves Sunday nights because she sleeps with the Daddybeast and then wakes up, eats, and falls right back to sleep with me.
It’s good to be a Lola.
Now, I’m going to make this post short and sweet. I’ve been doing some improvements to the blog and those of you reading from a computer or tablet should see a vast improvement. (Phone people, don’t get offended, you’ve been enjoying all these changes since day one.) I’ve changed fonts, a feat that was easy…until I realized my page was sized for a skinnier font and now everything was garbled. This resulted in a very tiny new font, but I knew it could be perfect with a few tweaks.
Two hours later, I learned how to change the CSS to accommodate the new font and the new size for easier reading. If you don’t know what CSS stands for you are already winning at life. I want to punch myself silly because “they” tell me it’s easy to learn but I still don’t believe “them.” I passed fucking calculus without breaking a sweat, but four simple lines of code nearly ruined my self-esteem and caused the downfall of mankind.
So marvel at the wonder that is my new font style and size…
it’s never going to change again.

New blog looks really spiffy! Well done for doing it yourself. I paid someone to do mine because I am a) lazy and b) a techno-numpty.

Thank you! It took me a year to get up the courage to try but I’m not sure I would do it again. I will probably pay someone next time

I do not know what this CSS is of which you speak but I suspect it may be a form of witchcraft and definitely not the sort of thing that a dinosaur such as myself should be dabbling in! 😉 Love the new look though lovely – oh and ps: How hardcore are you? I’m generally getting up before you go to bed on a Monday morning. That is dedication! Thanks for linking hon x #DreamTeam

I love the linkys, I’d rather forfeit sleep and have to take naps the rest of the week then give up my linkys! And I find the earlier I participate, the more I get to interact on Twitter

Haha, I recognise your plight! Though mine was with Twitter cards and meta tags – its all been fixed now, thanks to the blogging community demystifying it for me. The font is lovely by the way. #DreamTeam

I have no idea what CSS is, although I feel like I should do! Every time I try to ‘improve’ my blog, it breaks.

It’s the lines of code that actually say how your blog should appear. If you’re using a preset layout than you don’t usually need to change it, but I really wanted to make my font larger than the preset and the only way to do that was to actually expand the size of my layout. After banging my head into my keyboard a number of times, I found someone who had posted a code to allow me to set a new column size that accommodated the larger font. It was hours of wonky gibberish and odd text written over odd text. Luckily it all worked out, I now have a larger font and my readers have really seemed to enjoy it – my site visits have almost doubled since the day I did it.

I’m slowly learning! I am trying to go self hosted but I feel like it would be foolish of me to do that before I can troubleshoot some of my own problems.

Your doing so well, I must update mine but need the brain to work. Hubby is a computer programmer and it just all goes over my head #thatfridaylinky

Put your hubby to work! My husband is learning how to do this as well with some books I purchased. That way he can help me with the things I’m having trouble on.

Continue to not know what CSS means, your life is better off because of it 😉 and thank you, I’m very happy with the way it turned out even though I have a few more glitches to work my way through.

Us Brits love having you come and party with us! The new font size looks great… Would you judge me if I didn’t know what CSS actually stands for? Maybe I am winning at both life and blogging? Thank you for linking up to #BigPinkLink

I don’t know what it stands for, I just know that it is what tells your blog how to look the way it looks. You are definitely winning at life if you never had to mess around with yours, it wasn’t pretty.

You can do it!!! I love the template I’m using, but the font was just a bit too small. I recommend that you Google your template and how you want to tweak it – a lot of people are already putting CSS up for you to just copy and paste.

Urrrgh I hate coding! I’m lucky because my hubby is a web developer so if I get really stuck, I can get him to help me (but I am often too proud to ask for help and determined to work it out on my own! haha) #blogcrush

I’m not too proud for help, I’d be begging him to make adjustments every day! I would bake him some cookies so there was a mutual trade.

It isn’t until I started blogging, did I realise just how damn technophobic I am. I literally write and that’s it, no fancy plug ins, nothing. Because I just can’t be arsed to find out how to do it! Thanks for sharing with #GlobalBlogging

I always think about changing the layout of my blog because I’ve noticed other bloggers change theirs every year – but I don’t like when I go to a website that I’ve been to for years and all of a sudden it looks completely different. It’s so disorienting! And now that I’ve tried changing just a small tweak, I know I would never survive an entire layout change!!
